WHERE DO THE NUMBERS COME FROM?

Stock prices are end-of-day closes from EODHD, labeled "as of close." Gold history goes back to 1833 and the S&P 500 to 1871. Eggs, gas, homes, CPI and the minimum wage come from U.S. government sources. The full list is in the app under Settings → Data sources, and at the bottom of aurudex.com.

WHY IS EVERYTHING FLAT IN GOLD BEFORE 1971?

Gold was fixed by law at $20.67 an ounce until 1933 and at $35 until 1971. Back then, "priced in gold" mostly tracks "priced in dollars." That's the point of the 1971 marker.

WHY DOESN'T MY STOCK GO BACK TO 1871?

Daily data for individual stocks usually starts in the 1970s. The S&P 500 series from 1871 carries the long story.

IS THIS INVESTMENT ADVICE?

No. Aurudex is for fun and education. You can't trade in it, and it never tells you to buy or sell anything.
